Our striking clock having ceased to operate, I sought a temporary substitute. The Westminster Chimes app has proven excellent for my purpose. Just the thing for knowing the time without looking at my watch!

This app gives a nice "human" touch to the computer with its gentle reminders about the time of day. Would be better if there was an option so that it didnt override other audio that is playing at the time it chimes.

Just something I needed for me to tell the time without having to fetch my phone put of the pocket.

I love this app and its flexibility with options. I wish there was a setting to allow or disallow the app to affect the sound of other active apps or songs. Before the most recent update, the chimes sounded like a clock at home and I loved that. One of the changes with the update was to make the chimes sounds more realistic. Now I dont enjoy the chimes as much; they are very realistic, I have to agree, but now they have a tone and echo that is suggestive of a cathedral. This is lovely but not the kind of sound I want. Couldnt there be a choice of chime tones? "Cathedral" or "living room"? Something like that? Anyway, as it is, it is still excellent and certainly the best of all the others out there, which is why Im giving it a 5 rather than a 4.

I was expecting the application to have more chime style including something modern and short like a bell or a gong. What I like is the ease setup.

I like the rich tone and it has several useful options. Reminds me of my moms old grandfather clock.

I love the analog sense of time passing in 15-minute increments: I use this app while meeting with my clients and it gives them a gentle feeling for how much time remains in our hour meetings. The Westminster chimes are much more agreeable than a beep or electronic noise. That being said, I agree on two points with an earlier reviewer: it would be nice to have the choice between the present tone and that of a more intimate mantle clock, and it would be nice to easily be able to switch off the app while listening to music. Of all the similar apps I checked out, this one was the best.

There is no more classic way to mark time than Westminster Chimes... Excellent sound... As good as my genuine grandfather clock. Simplifies tracking time without being obtrusive. Love the app... But please add the option of Mon-Fri notifications only!

This app does precisely what it promises. The bells are wonderful, and the new voice option provides the least obtrusive reminder that time is ticking away :)

Love the idea and the sounds are actually not that bad. The problem is they dont work. Only the spoken chime works; and since iOS10, the spoken chime does not always give the time at the top of the hour. Thanks.

I recommend this app. An improvement could be made on sound quality though as the tones lack depth.

They say that there is an app for everything. Yesterday I was looking to buy a clock when I remembered how my godmothers clock would chime the hour. I thought to myself, "I wonder if there is a way for my phone to chime the hour." I went to the app store and typed in Clock chimes and sure enough this was the first on the list. After reading the description, reviews and watching the video I smiled and immediately purchased. Within the first gong I fell in love. In fact, I received compliments the first day of using this app. It is not every day that one overhears beautiful melodies from an old fashioned clock; and now I carry these melodies with me. Since a grandfather clock is currently out of my budget, this is the next best thing. The app works flawlessly, chiming each quarter hour and chiming the number of the hour. As a voiceover user, I truly appreciate the developer taking the time to make this app fully accessible! I am impressed at how simple it is to customize the experience, and appreciate the time setting so not to disturb those sleeping. If I may suggest one feature, it would be nice to have a shuffle melody on/off button where, for instants, selected melodies would alternate throughout the day. For example, Westminster would play for the hour, then St. Michaels, and perhaps Whittington, and so forth. This would allow for a variety of melodies to be played without having to manually switch them. Overall I would totally recommend this app for someone who is looking to have beautiful Belltower bells play from their phone! Thank you for this fantastic app!

Really useful for keeping my homeschooled kids on track throughout the day. The tones bring me right back to my college campus days. Love the ability to alter how often it rings as well as start and stop times.

Works great on a 6s. Tones seem authentic enough to me... The hour is traditionally a mellower sound.

I absolutely love this app. The only reason I didnt give it five stars is because of the chime quality. The rest rest is great though.:-)

This is a wonderful chiming app, my favorite of all Ive tried and the one I use most often. I live alone and hearing the chimes helps me stay on track. I particularly like that the quarter chimes for the hour start early enough so that the exact moment of the hour is marked by the first hour strike--a nice touch and just like Big Ben. :) All that said, the app is in urgent need of an update. The On/Off button has been malfunctioning ever since my upgrade to iOS10.

Works exactly as described. There are no weird caveats about a maximum number of notifications or anything like that — it just works out of the box. It plays the right chime sequences at the right times. The best part is that the timing of the hour strike is flawless, with the melody playing first and then the first strike of the hour coming *bang on* the top of the hour, just like Big Ben. Well worth the modest price!

A number of years ago I suggested an enhancement for consistency that instead of the time within the the app said 15 minutes before the hour and you changed it. Now, I am suggesting that again for consistency the striking of the 1st quarter hour, the second half hour and the 2nd quarter hour be started just before the indicated time to be consistent with the way its done for the hour.

Excellent sound, great options when it works. If I try to change any of the options the app stops working. Sometimes if I keep messing with it or reboot my iPhone it will start working again but not always. Then I have to wait one to three days before it starts working on its own. I have a iPhone 6 running iOS 10.0.2. Please fix this as I do love this app.
